Mirror work for bodily ownership + quick and effective daily self care ritual
I'm heading toward the enormous 4-0 and lately, have been implementing this specific mirror ritual to appreciate all of my body, mind and soul.
Mirror work is a practice designed to cultivate self-compassion, and it only requires a bit of your time, a mirror, and intentional affirmations or inner chats for transformation about unveiling loving awareness and kindness to self.
Why do this?
- overcome your inner critic
- get curious about loving self
- reconnect with your body
- improve your sense of self
- build belief in you
- move away from discouraging reflections
- appreciate and open your heart
- break free from negative perceptions of your body
- move away from judgements toward acceptance, forgiveness and unconditional love
- boosts self esteem
- feel more confident
- heal your inner child
- increase self-assuredness
- overcome insecurities
- raise your vibration
Especially, helpful for those that have self harmed or tendencies to do so, struggled with self image, anorexia, bulimia, dysmorphia, dfv, women that have experienced se*ual abuse, hyperse*uality, suicidal ideation, and any women that finds fault in being as you are.
There are a multitude of layers to this practise and if you are new and finding yourself wanting to vomit to begin...take it easy and start with a pocket mirror and work yourself up to full length with gentleness and natural unfolding into wanting to see more of you.
No force, just curiosity.
Morning mirror ritual
1. Step in front of mirror
2. Look over the whole body for 1-5 minutes
3. Notice any negative or positive responses without avoidance or challenge
